Unfortunately, the bus service from Fukushima Station to Jododaira is currently suspended. Visitors travelling to Fukushima Station by train or highway bus should take a taxi (approx. 1 hour, approx. 12,000 yen) or rent a car from the station.

Traffic can be heavy during the autumn leaf colour period. Traffic jams start when the visitor centre parking lot fills up at around 8.30 am. If you are coming from the Takayu Onsen side, traffic jams are even more congested as traffic is cleared in front to prevent cars from stopping in the section where volcanic gases are generated. Traffic jams late in the morning are often quite severe, and it can take more than an hour to get into the car park. In order to keep the number of vehicles as low as possible, we ask for your cooperation in reducing the number of vehicles coming to the event by combining rides.

We do not generally provide a pick-up service.

Azumagoya Lodge is operated by Bandai Tours, a travel agency. For groups of 7 to 12 people staying at Azumagoya Lodge or in Urabandai for two nights or more, we can organise a package tour if a transfer to the trailhead is required. In such cases, the package includes not only a transfer to the trailhead but also a minibus transfer to Fukushima Station or Koriyama Station. Please contact us here to discuss this option.
